About Course
The issue of climate change represents one of the most urgent challenges currently facing our planet, necessitating immediate and coordinated action. Nevertheless, despite the growing awareness of these issues, older adults are often less involved in climate action. Many older adults encounter obstacles such as social isolation, health limitations, and reduced mobility, which can impede their participation in sustainability initiatives. Furthermore, the absence of targeted programmes at the national and community levels serves to compound the difficulties encountered by older adults in becoming involved. It is frequently the case that the contributions of senior citizens, and in particular those who are involved in the arts, are not given sufficient consideration. Their skills and perspectives could, however, prove to be of significant value in efforts to combat climate change.
The Seniors Climate Action (SCA) project was established with the objective of leveraging the potential of senior visual artists across the EU as active advocates for climate awareness and change. This e-learning course provides senior artists with essential knowledge on climate issues, sustainable practices, and digital tools, equipping them with the ability to drive change through their art. It offers a dynamic, supportive space for lifelong learning that is specifically tailored to the interests and needs of senior visual artists, facilitating connections, collaboration, the sharing of work, and the amplification of voices on critical environmental issues.
